IGCTs
IGCTs, or Integrated Gate-Commutated Thyristors, are high-power semiconductor switching devices for medium-voltage and high-power conversion systems. They combine a low-loss thyristor structure with an integrated gate unit for rapid turn-off control. IGCTs are used in medium-voltage drives, large industrial inverters, power quality systems, rolling mills, pumps, compressors and other demanding applications. Selection involves voltage class, current rating, gate-unit compatibility, press-pack structure, cooling method, application topology and replacement requirements.
